Joanne Douthit, RN, MN, CNS, CPN

 

Joanne Douthit, RN, MN has worked with the University Medical Center as Clinical Nurse Specialist since 1987. She was formerly a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona.  She now serves as adjunct faculty on the PPC in her new role of Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Arizona. Joanne is a graduate of the University of Washington, M.N., and Seattle University, B.S.N.   Joanne provides asthma education to community health care providers through a Basic Asthma Management Seminar. She provides lectures on the nursing management of pediatric pulmonary conditions including tracheotomy, asthma, and cystic fibrosis locally to schools and primary care providers.  She has received a number of teaching awards including the 1990 University of Arizona Provost Teaching Improvement Award for her project “Development of Videotape for Health Assessment of School Age Child”, and was recognized by the Arizona Department of Education for development of an educational program for school health nurses. In 1997, Joanne was selected as one of Tucson’s “Fabulous Fifty” nurses. She is also a nationally and locally recognized speaker on pulmonary topics.
