Joanne Douthit, RN, MN, CPN is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Arizona. She returns to the PPC having served as both faculty and adjunct faculty on the grant. Prior to this, she worked with the University of Arizona Medical Center as a Clinical Nurse Specialist as well as serving as a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at Pima Community College. Joanne is a graduate of the University of Washington, M.N., and Seattle University, B.S.N. Joanne provides asthma education to community health care providers through a Basic Asthma Management Seminar. She provides lectures on the nursing management of pediatric pulmonary conditions including tracheotomy, asthma, and cystic fibrosis locally to schools and primary care providers. She has received a number of teaching awards including the University of Arizona Provost Teaching Improvement Award for her project "Development of Videotape for Health Assessment of School Age Child", and was recognized by the Arizona Department of Education for development of an educational program for school health nurses. She received the University of Arizona Excellence in Teaching Award and the University of Arizona Suzanne Van Ort Peer Award for Undergraduate Teaching. In 1997, Joanne was selected as one of Tucson's "Fabulous Fifty" nurses. She is also a nationally and locally recognized speaker on pulmonary topics.
