PPC Training Programs |
The UA Pediatric Pulmonary Center(PPC) offers traineeships to individuals who have the potential for leadership. In keeping with the priorities of Health People 2010 objectives to increase minority representations in the health professions, minority students are especially encouraged to apply for traineeships. PPCs provide leadership training to health care professionals who are then equipped to not only improve the health of children with respiratory conditions through the provision of coordinated, family-centered care, but also to positively impact changes in the health care system. Interdisciplinary leadership training is provided for a variety of professional practitioners using pediatric pulmonary care as a clinical model. Trainees complete both a comprehensive core curriculum and discipline-specific seminars to address detailed technical aspects of care. Trainees also serve as active members of the care team, providing direct experience in interdisciplinary care. This includes participation in program development and collaborative efforts with other Title V agencies. Trainees complete individual/small group projects in public policy/advocacy and outreach education to solidify the concepts learned in didactic sessions. Affiliations with a variety of community-based agencies and health care facilities will allow a broad range of experiences by which curricular and individual educational goals will be met through interdisciplinary clinical activities under PPC faculty supervision.
