Lauren Benton, Pediatric Pulmonology Fellow: Lauren earned her undergraduate degree at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and went on to complete her MD at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Benton became a pediatric resident at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona in 2016 and went on to become a pediatric pulmonology fellow. In her free time, she enjoys playing board games with friends, sewing, and cooking.
Cynthia Flores, Nurse Trainee: Cynthia is a second-year DNP student specializing in pediatric primary care at Arizona State University. She graduated from ASU with a BSN in 2015. Since graduating she has worked as a pediatric nurse in the acute care setting at Banner University Medical Center and as a Pediatric Forensic Nurse in Southern Arizona. In her free time, Cynthia enjoys traveling with her family, cooking and photography.
Kate McCulley, Pharmacy Trainee: Kate received her BS in Kinesiology from Arizona State University and is currently a third-year student at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. She works with the other pharmacy trainees, the UA PPC pharmacy faculty and clinical pharmacist, Dr. Hanna Phan, to help optimize your child’s medication therapy. You’ll see Kate in the various PPC clinics, including pediatric severe asthma and cystic fibrosis. On top of being dedicated to her studies, Kate loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her two dogs Dragon and Amare. In her free time she likes to do Crossfit and is extremely passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle.
Lori Merrill, Nursing Trainee: Lori is a first-year DNP student (pediatric specialty) at University of Arizona. She graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho with her BSN and has worked in neonatal and pediatric nursing since 2004 in various hospital, clinical and administrative settings. Her wide range of experiences led her to recognize her vision to provide pediatric care in rural areas. Her free time is spent outdoors with her family camping, fishing and hiking coupled with her love for photography.
Kelsey Pinckney, Social Work Trainee: Kelsey is a second year MSW student at Arizona State University. She has a BA in Community Advocacy and Social Policy and her professional work has largely revolved around creating and advocating for access to education for children from marginalized communities, fueled by a passion for equity and social justice. She believes everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential. Kelsey also has experience in community organizing in the arts community of Phoenix and ran a local literary magazine and small press for 5 years. She is delighted to join the PPC and learn more about serving children and families within the healthcare realm. In her free time, she likes to crochet, hike, read, and spend time with her partner and their cat, Truman.
Amanda Rader, Social Work Trainee: Amanda is a second-year MSW student at Arizona State University (Tucson campus). She has a BA in Sociology and Spanish, a MA in International Politics, and is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. With a background in international experiential education, Amanda has explored the confluence of micro and macro factors playing into global imbalances. She is honored to be joining the University of Arizona Pediatric Pulmonary Center. In her free time, Amanda enjoys hiking, backpacking, and any activities that immerse her in nature.
Amanda Marie Romaine, Nurse Trainee: Amanda is a second-year DNP student (with a pediatric specialty) at the University of Arizona. She graduated with her BSN from the University of Arizona in 2016 and has worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Banner University Medical Center Tucson since graduation. She acts as a core charge nurse and cares for postoperative cardiac surgery patients and patients on ECMO. Her hobbies include traveling and exploring new places, cooking, and hiking.
David Seto, Pharmacy Trainee: David is a PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Resident completing his first year with the Pediatric Pulmonary Center. He studied Pharmacy at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, graduated in 2019. David completed his first year of residency training at Valleywise Health (formerly Maricopa Integrated Health System) in Phoenix Arizona. You’ll see David in the various PPC clinics, including pediatric severe asthma and cystic fibrosis. On his free time, David enjoys spending time with family, trying new food, and road trips.
Rachel Stock, Nutrition Trainee: Rachel earned her undergraduate degree in Nutrition with an Emphasis in Dietetics at the University of Arizona. She is currently working on her Professional Science Master's in Applied Nutrition and hopes to complete a dietetic internship after obtaining her graduate degree. Her career goal is to one day become a neonatal dietitian. In her free time she enjoys yoga, hiking, and being with her son and family.
Liz Vuong, Pharmacy Trainee: Liz Vuong graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Molecular & Cellular Biology with a minor in Psychology. She is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and is currently completing her last year as a long-term PPC pharmacy trainee. She works closely with other pharmacy trainees and interprofessional disciplines to optimize your/your child’s medication therapy. You’ll see her in the various PPC clinics, including pediatric severe asthma and cystic fibrosis. In her free time, Liz loves hanging out with friends and family, drinking boba, attending spin/cycling classes, and cooking.
